Dr. Bell
Sorry we have been so busy we got behind on our updates.  But, of course, there has been a lot going on still.

Hunter R - Caleb Dahn tried to save one of our trout who got eaten by another trout.

Brianna - We saw another trout wrestling with another.

Madison - They are getting bigger.

Noah - We named the biggest fish Man-eater.

Caleb M - We learned that a submarine is built like a fish.  They both can sense what moves under water.  A submarine has sonar and a trout has a lateral line.

Emmalee - We think that they are doing well.

James - We did a test on the trout body parts.

Britian - We got to feed the trout nymphs when Dr. Bell came.

Andrew - One of the fish, I think, is going to be world record when it grows up.

Tyler - We learned about all the fins on a trout.  Some of them are the anal fin, dorsal fin, pectoral fin, and caudal fin.

Katelyn - The fish are doing very well.

Emily - I think the big fish is fat because it has been eating the other fish.

Austin - The levels are doing well and not spiking  a lot.

Destanie - We got to feed them bugs.

Hunter Y - Everybody learned how to do water change.

Caleb D - I discovered a fish that has a humpback and looks like a whale so I named it Humpback.  We are going to release the trout in 11 days!

Laekynn - We have been doing very well with the testing.  Everybody knows what to do and they do it together before they go outside.

Gabi - The trout are doing very well.  They are getting a lot bigger.  And some of them are bigger than most of them.  We have to start feeding a bit more food because the big ones are eating a lot more.

Marisa - We all learned how to do a water change.

Doreyan - I named one Optimus Prime.  It's the second biggest one.

Our trout have been doing very well.  We haven't had a dead fish in a long, long time.

We've been taking care of them but some groups were forgetting to fill in the logs.  We talked about how it important it was for the fish and now we all are trying to be better.  We also came up with a way to organize our information.

We created our own life cycle charts.  First, they start as eggs.  Then they become alevin.  Next, they grow to be fry and into fingerlings.  Lastly, if they survive, they grow into adults.  Right now they are fry because they are under 3 inches.

Last month we changed their food to size 2.  They are growing!

Today we saw something exciting!  Doreyan and Laekynn were the first ones to see one of our trout eating another.  We all ran over to see.  The trout had a skinny dead trout in its mouth.  It had half of the body in its mouth and the head part was sticking out.  We took a picture.  Then another trout came over and they started fighting over it.  It started a tug-o-war!  Supertrout won!check it out

bubbler
The trout are doing really well!

Our bubbler broke but Mrs. Bukoski bought a new one with money from Trout Unlimited and PA Fish and Boat Commission.

We have had 2 students try and siphon the water by themselves and they were successful!  The rest of the class said they want to learn as well.  Mrs. Bukoski will gladly hand over the water changing job to the class.

Here's what we have noticed so far:

Marisa - The trout are getting bigger.  Some of the fish are feeding at the top and some are feeding at the bottom.

Britian - The ammonia and nitrites are going back down to zero.

Caleb D. - The nitrites are heading from 10 down to 5.

Laekynn - The H20 testing is bumpy.  The levels are going up and down.

Mrs. Bukoski - The class is doing well with the water testing!
